FAQ's

Is it safe?

Yes, completely safe when applied by a properly certified and experienced technician.

In the wrong hands extensions may cause temporary damage to natural lashes or be uncomfortable/irritating. It's important to research and find a reputable technician who cares about your eyelash health who will check that you are a suitable candidate for eyelash extensions.

Lashes Melbourne is dedicated to your safety - we have the reputation, experience and products to ensure your extensions are 100% damage free. Because our extensions are completely separated and individually attached your natural lash is able to grow out and shed as per its normal growth cycle. We use a medical grade adhesive that contains ingredients safe enough for use on suture-less wounds in hospitals - however - our glue never comes into contact with your skin.

We also have a strict damage free procedure that we adhere to, which ensures your nautral lashes are in the same condition, if not better, than before you came to see us.

Your appointment will bever be rushed, we allow the right amount of time for each customer to receive a rejuvanting experience.

Lashes Melbourne guarantees you will not leave with damaging or uncomfortable feeling lashes - We ask detailed questions upon your initial consult in order for us to identify whether you are a suitable candidate for lash extensions.  In the event you do suffer an allergic reaction we offer FREE REMOVAL within 48 hours.

Allergies are extremely RARE but please note that if you have had an allergic reaction (not a reaction from a bad application!) then you are an unsuitable candidate for extensions - no matter who applies them.

Lashes Melbourne also participate in the "Safe Sets" initiative through Xtreme Lashes.  In order to maintain a certification, adhesive is changed over every 3 months and we use sanitary practices and the specially developed Xtreme Lashes application technique to ensure the best application.

How long does it take?

Your initial consultation for classic eyelash extensions require approximately 1 - 1.5 hours.  This depends on the amount of extensions applied  - the more extensions, the longer the procedure.  You will also need time to complete a set of forms to ensure your eligibility and for your stylist to design a look for you.  Your lashes are also cleansed before application.

Refills take 45 minutes to 1 hour - again, depending on the amount needing to be applied and the length between treatments.

Volume Lashes take longer to apply due to the specialised technique required. New Sets take anywhere fom 2-2.5 hours, depending on the fullness you want to achieve.

How long do they last?

Your lash extensions can last indefinitely with refills every 2-4 weeks.  Much like artificial nails, lash extensions require maintenance in order to move back extensions that have grown away from the lash line and extend the new lashes that have grown in.

REMEMBER - at the time the extensions are applied, your natural lashes are each at a different stage of their life cycle, everybody has a different growth rate than others and your refill appointments should be booked according to your lash growth cycle. A 3 week refill is about the average.

Will I have an Allergic Reaction?

Allergic reactions to Eyelash Extensions are uncommon but like with anything, including medicine, you can be allergic.
